How to find a job in Dubai for professionals staying in other countries?
It is easier to find jobs in Dubai when you stay there. For locals, this is not an issue. But, for those who are not staying in Dubai, it is always advisable to visit the place on a visit visa and look for jobs in the city. This also helps professionals to help get acquainted with the lifestyle and professional environment of Dubai.
Types of Visit Visa
A visit visa is an entry permit which gives the permission to a person to enter United Arab Emirates, including Dubai. For this, the person who wants to visit Dubai should get a sponsorship or invite from a Dubai resident or from any registered hotel or company based in Dubai. There are three types of visit visas:
·        Short-term Visit Visa: Professionals who want to look for jobs in Dubai can stay in the city for 30 days from the date of arrival. This, however, cannot be renewed.
·        Long-term Visit Visa: Here, professionals can stay for 90 days from the date of arrival. This also cannot be renewed. This gives ample time for professionals to look for jobs in Dubai. They can stay, apply for jobs, appear for interviews and if selected, they can even join at their new workplace and work for few days, before coming back again for permanent settlement.
·        Multiple Entry Visit Visa: This visa is valid for 6 months. After entering the city (through single entry visa), the visa holder should apply for a multiple entry visit visa within 5 days. Failing of which, he has to go back within 14 days. Those who wish to find jobs in Dubai should apply for a multiple entry visit visa so that they can stay in the city for 6 months and look for good job opportunities. But, this is an expensive process as the visa holder has to bear his own expenses, unless and until he has relatives to foot the bills.
Ideally, short-term visit visa is a better option to find jobs in Dubai.
How do you search for jobs in Dubai?
Once you enter Dubai, your next task is job hunting, which is actually the main reason for you to visit this place on a visit visa.
1.     Start as soon as possible: If you are on a short term visit visa, you have 30 days only. So, ideally, you should have a list of companies and job profiles ready with you before visiting Dubai. Prepare thoroughly so that you don’t face any problems or make any mistakes while job hunting in Dubai. Now, start sending out your job applications to organizations related to your field.
2.     Make sure you have a well-written professional CV and cover letter: This gives a first-hand impression of your skills and experience to apply for jobs in Dubai. Since you are not a Dubai national and you are planning to relocate to a new place for work, your CV and cover letter should be good enough to attract employers in Dubai. Your CV is the first step towards getting a call for interviews.
3.     Visit the place at the right time: Usually, hiring in Dubai takes place almost all the year round. But, preferably try to visit the place when you feel it is the right time for you. Maybe you can avoid the summers as during this time, the city is in the midst of scorching heat with temperature as high as 50 degrees. And this is also the time when most employers and hiring managers go out for vacations to cold destinations.
4.     Don’t apply for too many jobs in Dubai on the same day: Set yourself a target. Take 5-6 companies each day, read the job description thoroughly, understand the profile and then apply, either through mail or by post. Prepare the cover letter as per the role applied for.
5.     Don’t avoid the walk-in-interviews: When you are on visit visa in Dubai and you know that you can stay there only till the time the visa is valid, so use the time judiciously. Try to attend as many walk-in-interviews as possible. This will prepare you well enough to face the interview board confidently.
6.     Follow-up: This is a very essential requirement for jobs in Dubai. Like you, there will be several others applying for the same job role in the same organization. You never know when your application gets lost among the thousands of other applications. So, it is always advisable to stay connected to the companies where you have applied.  This becomes all the more essential when you are called for the interview and you have to wait for the results. Give a courtesy call to the HR to make them aware of the date till which you are available in the city.
If you are well-prepared, finding jobs in Dubai is not so difficult.
